Technical Assignments

Technical Assignment One

The purpose of Technical Assignment One is to provide and overview of the design and construction of the new Upper Dublin High School. This report takes a look into multiple aspects of project and many of the issues they may present. Information found in this technical report includes, but is not limited to, a project summary schedule, building characteristics, multiple square foot estimates, client information, existing conditions, and project team organizational charts. This report sets forth the building blocks needed to dive deeper into the analysis of this high school in Technical Report Two.

Technical Assignment Two

Technical Assignment Two gave a more in-depth look at managing the project. It took into consideration a detailed project schedule, detailed structural systems and general conditions estimate, and creating effective site layout plans. This was a great opportunity to be creative and experience the difficulties that come with creating the above mentioned items on a project. Also on this technical report is a summary of the PACE Roundtable event, and the current state of the construction industry.

Technical Assignment Three

Technical Assignment Three takes a look into the constructability issues associated with the Upper Dublin High School Project. Schedule acceleration scenarios are also identified, as well as value engineering strategies. These three areas are then used as the basis to create a list of problematic features on this project. These items will be used as research topics for the upcoming semester.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Stephen Kelchaw. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
